Paul Irvin Lights Up the Firework 300 with First Victory of 2026
The North Star Racing Grand National Series put on another exciting show as drivers took to the track for the Firework 300. After 200 grueling laps of side-by-side racing, Paul Irvin drove the No. 48 machine to Victory Lane, capturing his first win of the 2026 season and thrusting himself into the championship conversation.
Irvin’s night was nearly flawless. After collecting a Stage 2 victory, he took control in the closing laps and drove away from the field, earning a race-high 71 total points while climbing three spots in the championship standings.
Stage Winners Set the Pace
The race opened with an intense battle for Stage 1 honors. Jeffery D. Peppers held off a competitive field to claim the opening stage victory, with Matt Wilson, Cody Smith, Cory Mott, and Paul Irvin rounding out the top five.
Stage 2 belonged to Paul Irvin. The No. 48 found another level during the middle portion of the event, leading the field at Lap 90. Alex Rogers finished second in the stage, followed by Andrew Zimmerschied, Nathaniel Campbell, and Brady Motes as several championship contenders continued to battle near the front.
Those valuable stage points would become just as important as the finishing positions when the night’s points were totaled.

Irvin Pulls Away in the Closing Laps
When the final stage began, Paul Irvin showed he had the car to beat.
Managing his tires and maintaining excellent long-run speed, Irvin steadily built a gap over the field before taking the checkered flag 4.3 seconds ahead of Alex Rogers.
Brady Motes continued his strong season with another podium finish in third after starting tenth, while Cory Mott produced one of the drives of the night by charging from 17th to finish fourth. Andrew Zimmerschied completed an impressive climb from 33rd on the starting grid to round out the top five.

Next up for the Grand National Series is the Atlanta 250.
With momentum swinging toward several different championship contenders and the points battle tightening every week, Atlanta promises to be one of the biggest races of the young season.
